Gary W. Hoogeveen

President and CEO, Rocky Mountain Power

 

Gary W. Hoogeveen, 55, is president and CEO of Rocky Mountain Power. He is responsible for the company's transmission and distribution operations, customer service, regulatory and legislative affairs in Idaho, Utah and Wyoming. Hoogeveen is additionally responsible for PacifiCorp’s coal fueling and mining operations as well as thermal generation operations.

 

Prior to his current position Hoogeveen served as the senior vice president and chief commercial officer of Rocky Mountain Power and president of Kern River Gas Transmission Company for four years. He joined Kern River after serving as vice president of customer service and business development for Berkshire Hathaway Energy subsidiary Northern Natural Gas Company. Prior to joining Northern Natural Gas, he held various management positions at Berkshire Hathaway Energy.

 

Hoogeveen currently serves as chair of the Salt Lake City Chamber of Commerce Board of Governors and chair of the EDCUtah Board of Advisors. He also serves on the executive boards of the ASPIRE Center at Utah State University, Envision Utah and the Utah Sports Commission. While in Omaha, he served as a member of the Executive Board of Directors of the Omaha Metropolitan YMCA, and was a Charter Board member of the non-profit CREATE Foundation based in Omaha. He dedicates his time to others within the company through both formal and informal mentoring.

 

Hoogeveen earned a Bachelor of Science degree in physics from the University of Northern Iowa, and a Ph.D. in space physics from Rice University.
